New: compostable pyramidal teabags!
Tea bags are practical and make tea preparation easier in hectic everyday life. And because there are so few tea bags on the market that use high-quality tea, we decided early on to offer KEIKO tea in triangular tea bags. We accepted the fact that the bag material was made of unsustainable plastic, but at the same time we were always looking for more ecological alternatives for our tea bag lovers.
Now our persistence has finally paid off: Neo Soilon is the first material to be developed that is not only GMO-free, but also compostable! The sugar cane-based material also has very large pores so that the tea can release its flavour particularly well - for a wonderfully green tea enjoyment - in every sense!
PLA stands for polylactic acid. Up to now, PLA is mainly made from corn starch and is being used as a plastic alternative in cutlery, bags, etc. is usually based on GMO maize.
Neo Soilon, on the other hand, is not petroleum-based, does not contain any genetically modified components. The duration of the decomposition process depends on temperature, humidity, pH value and the type and number of microorganisms in the composter.
Kabuse No.1 is now available in new compostable bags (and in a new design), Kabuse Soshun will follow shortly and easy Ice Tea will be available from end of february.
The material changeover for the Konacha bags is proving a little more difficult, as a different production line is being used for this - but we'll keep at it!
