Sae Midori

Sae Midori translates to "clear green" which refers to the colour of the infusion. Sae Midori is characterized by a low astringency, which makes it suitable for high quality green tea like Kabusecha, Gyokuro or Matcha.

The Cultivar is a cross between the cultivars Yabukita and Asatsuyu developed in the 90s. It has excellent balance of fine taste that comes from Yabukita and beautiful water color that comes from Asatsuyu. Since it is not frost resistant it can only be grown in southern tea-regions such as Kagoshima.
