It is now 25 years since the first tea under the KEIKO brand went on sale. To celebrate this milestone, we have created a very special tea that reflects the distinctive features of KEIKO teas and yet remains something very special. KEIKO *Goldrush* is a symphony of different components - an intensely steamed Kabusecha from the very first early harvest, a fine Matcha powder and a touch of real gold dust. You all know the typical grassy and green aroma of KEIKO teas, but did you know that Shimodozono in Kagoshima has made a name for itself primarily with so-called "Tsuyobi" tea? This stronger-fired green tea enjoys great popularity there, but has so far only been represented in this country in a lighter form in Kabuse Dan. We have combined the speciality of intensively fired tea with tea dried in the classical way. The result, as always in close cooperation with our partner in Japan, is a full-bodied, velvety taste with the delicate sweetness of the leaf tips picked early in April. As the icing on the cake, we have added fine matcha powder and a touch of real gold dust to the result of this special composition, which brings out the bright green cup colour even more with its reflections and make the first two infusions in particular a feast for the senses! The KEIKO Anniversary Tea is a special edition and therefore only available while stocks last. <h3>Cultivation and processing</h3> <b>Kabusecha</b> is a Japanese green tea, for the production of which the tea plants ripen under special nets in partial shade, whereby it develops a higher content of chlorophyll, theanine and other active substances. Its characteristic, fresh-green "shade aroma" is called "ooika". Like many KEIKO teas, this tea is a <b>Fukamushi-cha</b>. Due to this optimised form of steaming, the leaf pores open wider and the extracts pass more easily and quickly from the tea leaf into the water. This is recognisable by the deep green colour of the tea in the cup and the yield of the tea - top qualities are therefore particularly productive with up to 4 infusions. <b>Tsuyo-bi</b> is the name given to the intensive firing of the teas, which has become the trademark of Shimodozono teas on the Japanese market. The drying of the teas is intensified to achieve a particularly full-bodied and warm aroma. <b>By the way:</b> the design is also a small homage to our partners and is based on the design of the most popular Shimodozono teas in Japan. The calligraphy on it stands for "KEIKO" (large, in the middle) and "Shimodozono" (smaller, top right). <h3>Preparation</h3> We recommend an infusion temperature of 60-65°C. Infuse the first infusion for about 50 seconds. For the subsequent infusions, a few seconds are enough to draw out the aroma of the leaves. For the last infusion, you can increase the infusion time slightly to dissolve as much of the remaining extracts as possible. Due to the matcha content, the first infusion in particular is very intense. If you find this too strong, you can slightly adjust the flavour intensity by adding a little more water. Intensely steamed early picks are particularly well suited for a cold infusion (Mizudashi). Even with cold water, the "Gold Rush" develops a particularly silky texture and a refreshing clarity after just a few minutes of infusion. The sweet theanine notes also come out particularly well this way, as the bitter substances do not dissolve as strongly in cold water. <h3>Storage</h3> To best preserve the valuable flavours and ingredients of the tea, please seal the bag tightly and store in a cool, dark place in the fridge or freezer. <h3>A small side note</h3> Unfortunately, real gold powder is not provided for as an ingredient in the organic regulations, so products with gold cannot be labelled with the organic seal. Therefore, our jubilee tea unfortunately cannot carry the organic seal due to its goldiness, even though the tea leaves and matcha powder come 100% from our organic tea gardens. Nevertheless, we decided to go for the gold, after all, we don't have an anniversary every year!

Mantoku - Organic Japanese Matcha

With the Matcha Mantoku we have a true rarity of the tea world in our selection. It is slightly more fired than usual and therefore has a very complex taste with a warm, velvety and nut-like flavor. Intense but almost without bitterness. It is not only suitable for the light Matcha (Usucha), but, due to its mild aroma, also for the thick preparation (Koicha). Genuine Japanese Matcha freshly ground in Germany The tea plants from which Matcha is made are traditionally 90% shaded. The plants develop a lot of chlorophyll, theanine and caffeine, but slightly fewer bitter substances. After steaming & drying the tea leaves, the leaf tissue is separated from the leaf veins. The delicate, flake-like leaf tissue particles are called "Tencha" and are later very slowly ground into high-quality Matcha on traditional granite stone mills. Kabuse Powder No. 1 - Organic half-shaded Tea Powder

A powdered tea from the 1st picking in May. Very aromatic with a noble bitter note. Recommended for light Matcha (Usucha) and ideal for mixed drinks and green tea cocktails. Kabuse Powder Kabuse Powder, unlike Matcha, is not extracted from Tencha but from the whole tea leaf. Also, the tea plants for Kabuse powder are shaded by 50% instead of 90% and thus grow in half shade. By grinding from the whole leaf, the Kabuse powder contains more tannins than Matcha and has a stronger taste. The strong green color and its stronger aroma bring out the full green tea taste. easy Ice Tea - Kabuse Sencha with Matcha in teabags

Even when infused with cold water, the easy Ice Tea develops a beautiful green colour and the refreshing, almost sweet Kabusecha taste. Teabags are now compostable! The tea bag material "Neo Soilon" is sugar cane-based and GMO-free and can be disposed of in your home compost.You can find more information here. The practical triangle tea bags contain kabusecha from the 1st and 2nd planting as well as a small amount of hojicha and matcha. Kabusecha is a green tea that is produced by shading the tea plants, which results in a high content of chlorophyll and other active ingredients and a low level of bitter substances. Its characteristic "shade flavour" is called "ooika". As a mizudashi, the easy ice tea can be served iced "on the rocks" and is an ideal refreshment - all you need is a container and cold water! Preparation is super quick and the infused tea stays fresh and bright green for a long time! Whether at home, in the office, during sport, at a picnic or when travelling, this tea is an absolute must in summer! And the best thing is: Tipp: if it's too fresh for an iced tea, the bags can also be infused with hot water - bringing out the warming roasted flavours of the hojicha. Aki Benifuuki - Organic Japanese Green Tea

This Japanese green tea from the autumn picking is very tenderly fermented. It is made from the tea variety "Benifuuki". It is characterised by a high content of the special active ingredient epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG 3). The caffeine content of the autumn picking is comparatively low so that the tea is also suitable for the afternoon. Bancha - Organic Japanese Green Tea

Kabuse Bancha is a green tea speciality made from the pruning of the tea plants after the main harvest, usually after the last harvest in summer or autumn. However, KEIKO Bancha is harvested in spring and processed as carefully as only Sencha or Kabusecha is usually processed. In spring, the leaves contain particularly high levels of theanine, which gives this unusual Bancha a particularly mild, harmonious aroma. Japan Oolong Karasu - Bio

The KEIKO Special Tea segment represents our "non-green" teas. Rarities that are difficult to find but have convinced that they deserve their spot on tea shelves everywhere. The KEIKO Japan Oolong Karasu is the newest addition to this range. Oolong tea is "half-fermented", which means it can be placed in between the very lightly fermented KEIKO Benifuuki teas and the Japanese Black Teas Kawanabe and Yakushima.Oolong originated in China and is translated as the "black dragon". The Japanese signs used for Oolong tea differ slightly and are a combination of the signs for crow, dragon and tea. The sign for crow on its own is read "Karasu" - giving a name to our tea.Like the Japanese Black Tea Yakushima the KEIKO-Oolong is grown in the organic tea garden of the Fujiwara family on the beautiful island of Yakushima - a lush, subtropical paradise that has been declared UNESCO world natural site. It is made from the first spring harvest of the undshaded tea plants of our signature cultivar Yutaka Midori.<b>Aroma:</b>Oolong Karasu has a particularly soft, velvety aroma with a honey-like sweetness, subtle vanilla notes and the delicate fruity taste of ripe peaches.<b>Preparation:</b>Oolong is traditionally "washed" with the first infusion by pouring hot water over it and draining it directly. You can omit this step with this oolong and let the first infusion steep at about 90°C for about 1 minute - this allows you to enjoy the full range of flavor of the tea.The tea has a clear orange-golden color in the infusion and has a very high yieald. Kabuse Genmaicha + Matcha is a traditional speciality made of green tea mixed with roasted rice (Genmai) and fresh green tea powder (Matcha). Kabusecha from the second picking is used for the KEIKO Genmaicha + Matcha creating a full flavour with a pleasant roasted note in the infusion. The Matcha Powder adds a magnificent, intense green colour as well as all its nutrients and aroma to the mix. The rich aroma makes Genmaicha a popular accompaniment to meals. Mulberry Leaf Tea - Organic

The mulberry trees of the Morus Alba variety are cultivated on a family farm in Thailand according to EU organic guidelines before they are steamed just as gently using the Sencha method and processed with the same machines as Japanese green tea, thus preserving the sensitive ingredients in the best possible way. When infused, the tea is mild and subtly sweet with a fine herbal aroma. With a stronger dosage, the tea develops a heavier, round - almost malty aroma. It is pleasantly relaxing and soothing and is ideal as a caffeine-free alternative or complement to green tea in the evening. <h3>Preparation</h3>Infuse the mulberry leaf tea with boiling hot water for at least 4 minutes. We recommend 1-2 teaspoons per 250ml cup. A second infusion is possible, as with green tea. For a milder green tea taste, you can mix the mulberry leaves with green tea leaves. The ideal blend is with Benifuuk tea. Sae Gyokuro 2023 - Organic Japanese Green Tea

The organic cultivation of fully shaded Gyokuro is an art that finds its perfection in this exclusive tea. Japanese Black Tea Kawanabe - Organic

This exceptional black tea is obtained from the Benifuuki variety and derives its name from the Kawanabe (Chiran) region in Kagoshima, where Shimodozono Biofarm is located. The variety gives the tea a fragrance reminiscent of vineyard peach and jasmine, while the tart flavours that characterize this variety as a green tea fade into the background due to fermentation. Hojicha - Organic Japanese Green Tea

Hojicha (or: Houjicha) is a roasted green tea. The name is composed of the word 'hojiru' for 'toast' and the 'cha' for 'tea'. With a Horoku tea roaster you can even roast your own hojicha from your favourite green tea. KEIKO Hojicha is made from Kabusecha of the 1st and 2nd picking. Hojicha is probably the only green tea that has the right to have a red-brown cup colour. What otherwise indicates a lack of quality is in this case desired. Hochija is a great companion in both the cold and warm seasons. With its warm, mild and nut-like roasting aromas, a hot Hojicha is just right to warm up after a long winter walk. In Japan, Hojicha is often drunk with the whole family at dinner. But it is also great in the summer as a cold refreshment when you are out and about, doing sports or just to accompany your meals. Japanese Black Tea Yakushima - Organic

A honey-golden cup colour and a flowery rounded aroma characterise this black tea from the name-giving island Yakushima, a dreamlike natural idyll of the Kagoshima Prefecture about 60 km south of the main island Kyushu. Amidst the lush forests of a nature reserve, which has been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, the tea grows here in small tea gardens, which are cultivated by the Fujiwara family according to EC organic guidelines. In contrast to conventional black tea, the fermentation time for this Japanese black tea is somewhat shorter and varieties are used that are traditionally used mainly for green tea.

Drinking glass, six petal rosette, 250ml

Item No. 40202.1 The wavy shape of this glass follows the principle of the golden ratio. In combination with the six petal rosette on the bottom of the glass it is not only pleasing to the eye, but is said to have a positive effect on the biological valence of its contents after only about 3 minutes in the glass. This is most noticeable in water developing a softer taste. The Glass is quite resilient and well suited for kids, grownups and the use in restaurants. Because of its shape it stands very steadily and if it does get tipped over it will tilt back into standing position by itself go ahead and try it! Each glass is unique. Small variations in measurements, colour variations in the symbol or air-bubbles in the glass are part of the handcrafted experience. Aracha Shincha 2023 - Organic Japanese Green Tea

<h2>Shincha 2023 - Spring in the cup!</h2> Shincha - the "new tea" heralds the beginning of the tea year every spring. The first tea from the fine, particularly aromatic leaf tips, which are harvested in the subtropical climate of Kagoshima already in mid-April. This year, however, it was particularly exciting: a late frost at the beginning of April severely affected some of the plants of the early cultivars,so that their harvest quantity was significantly reduced. Until the first tasting, we were unsure how much this would show in the taste. Fortunately, our colleagues on site have done a masterful job in determining the right harvest time, choosing the steaming intensity and the degree of drying. Aracha Shincha 2023 consists of the raw tea "Aracha" from the three cultivars: - Yutaka Midori from KEIKO Organic Farm in Kawanabe (Chiran). - Asanoka from the Komaki brothers (Chiran) - Yabukita from the KEIKO organic farm in Kawanabe (Chiran) Aracha Shincha brings the unique green fresh ooika aroma of Aracha raw tea to Europe. With its wild, intensely green and grassy scent of the freshly harvested tea fields, it conjures the tea spring directly into our cups and is the closest to the original taste of the tea plant. This year it is again composed of three cultivars, perfectly matched with their different flavors and fragrances - grassy with a lively spiciness. To bring out the fresh scent, the infusion temperature of 65 -70°C may be chosen a little higher here. <h3>Specifics</h3> Aracha is a partially processed green tea, which is reflected in the original, natural aroma. When tasting the raw teas directly after harvesting, they are infused in particularly high doses and hot in order to taste the special characteristics of the tea. A higher infusion temperature (about 70°C) also brings out the aroma of this tea particularly well - let yourself be whisked away to the tea gardens of Kagoshima with the intensely grassy aroma of freshly steamed tea leaves! Like many KEIKO teas, this tea is an intensively steamed tea (Fukamushi-cha, 100 - 120 seconds steaming time). The gentle steaming opens the leaf pores and the extracts from the tea leaf pass more easily and quickly into the water. This can be recognised by the deep green colour of the tea in the cup and the yield of the tea. Early pluckings such as Shincha Aracha also have a particularly high theanine content, which is noticeable in the sweet taste. <h3>Preaparation</h3> In order to bring out the fresh fragrance, the infusion temperature of 70°C may be chosen somewhat higher here. Intensely steamed early pluckings are particularly suitable for cold infusions (Mizudashi). Even with cold water, Shincha Classic develops a particularly silky texture and refreshing clarity after only a few minutes of infusion. The sweet theanine notes also come out particularly well this way, as the bitter substances do not dissolve as strongly in cold water. <h3>Storage</h3> Please note that Shincha Aracha is a raw tea and less dried than all other KEIKO teas. Aracha should therefore be enjoyed fresh and not stored for too long - we have set the best-before date for this tea at 6 months from production here in Diepholz, with us it is stored frozen! We therefore recommend that you seal the bag tightly and store it in a cool, dark place in the fridge or freezer to preserve the valuable aromas and ingredients of the tea in the best possible way.

Aki-Bancha - Organic Japanese Green Tea

Bancha is produced from the pruning after the main harvest, using mainly the larger leaves. For the Aki-Bancha, the unshaded leaves from the pruning of the autumn harvest are used. Aki Bancha is light green in the cup and has a finely tart, refreshing aroma. Because of the low caffeine content of the autumn harvest, the autumn Bancha is also suitable for consumption in the early evening. In Japan, Bancha is often served in restaurants for dinner. Kabuse Powder No. 2 - Organic half-shaded Tea Powder

A significantly tart green tea powder of the 2nd picking in June, which is versatile in green tea cuisine due to its strong aroma.
