Shiso, or Perilla Frutescens, belongs to the mint plant family and is a staple in the traditional Japanese cuisine. It is also known as an ancient herbal remedy. However, its use as leaf tea is still an absolute insiders tip! With its unique sweetish-subtle minty aroma, it is a completely new taste-experience.
When infused as a tea, Shiso develops an almost colourless, clear cup, but with a wonderful fragrance and a surprising, fresh herbal aroma.
The tea can be brewed hot or cold, reduces stress and increases attention - without caffeine.
As a spice, the leaves also add a very special flavour to sauces, salad-dressings and other dishes.
Only the aromatic leaves of the Shiso plant are picked for the Shiso Finest Selection, which gives the tea a particularly high yield - the 10g pack makes up to 150 portions!
