Classic Mino-Yaki matcha bowl (Chawan) from Gifu Prefecture.
The glaze of these bowls is slightly irregular at the upper rim, which is noticeable when drinking from the bowl, but does not detract from the enjoyment of the tea itself.
The uneven edge of the bowl corresponds to the Japanese penchant for asymmetry and imperfection and, when viewed from the side, looks like a hilly landscape. The white glaze makes one dream of snow-capped peaks.
The bowl is about 7.5cm high and has a diameter of 11cm. Matcha bowls are actually never filled completely, but only to about 1/3 with about 100ml per serving.
Due to the bulbous shape of the bowl, there is plenty of room to swing the matcha whisk. This makes the bowl highly recommended, especially for matcha novices.
Please note that the shape, color and size of the tea ceramics may vary slightly!
